With the end of the restrictions this past Spring, I was afforded the opportunity to travel to the States and across Canada several times these past summer months.
I was getting cabin fever in Vancouver and starting to feel a bit creatively tapped out. I knew just getting a change of scenery after almost 3 years of not getting on a plane would make all the difference in the world.
I headed to Philadelphia in June to visit my friends at Decibel Magazine for their annual Metal and Beer Festival. A 2 day event held at the Fillmore. Cannibal Corpse headlined (old friends I'd worked with years ago) and Wolves in the Throne Room (another band I've worked with) were also among the line up. It was also a great opportunity to finally meet Albert (editor) and Michael (art director) of Decibel in person as I'd been working with them on and off since 2013 on various covers and even a couple of Converse partnership ad campaigns for their back covers. Needless to say, the festival was awesome, Philadelphia is a terrific city and it was a thrill to finally travel again. I also made time to visit Atlantic City while I was there which also proved a very worthwhile detour.

In early July I found myself in Cleveland and Detroit to shoot The Black Dalhia Murder for a cover story which was just recently released this month. They are one of my favourite bands so this was defiantly a surreal moment in my career.

Mid July saw me in Winnipeg to shoot yet another cover story for noise rock/metal band "KEN mode". Great time with a great band in a super chill city.

Come August, I went down to Portland to shoot promotional material for a wicked newly signed band called Hoaxed. We braved a 40C day and got some killer shots for their new album release.

And most recently, I was down in Olympia shooting yet another Decibel cover for the December issue (can't say who just yet).

All in all I'm feeling really blessed for all the opportunities to get out of the comfort of my own studio. I'm very reignited in my interest to shoot more bands and musicians. The possibilities are always endless creatively and I love the technical demands of shooting on location.
