Nina and Oliver have been staples of the studio since they moved in back in Spring 2019. Both birds were independently adopted from 2 sets of different owners whom were both leaving the country.
Nina (yellow female) is now 4 years old and Oliver (blue/green male) is 3. They reside upstairs in their roomy cage, but have their run of the place when I'm not working with clients. Nina's favourite actives include building nests with paper materials she scrounges from the studio (usually stolen strips off the boxes I store my rolls of seamless in) and chasing Oliver away from her feed bowl. Oliver enjoys feeding Nina regurgitated food, stealing food off my plate when I'm not looking, making noise when he feels he's not getting 100% of the attention, sitting on my shoulder most of the day, and of course shitting on whatever freshly washed shirt I've just put on.
It was through a series of unexpected events that I came to have these two living with me and as much as they drive me nuts sometimes, I'm glad to have them as companions. The months of isolation in Spring 2020 were certainly made brighter by having them around (completely unfazed/unaware of the feeling that the world was falling apart).
So if you aren't terrified of birds (some people seem to be), I'll be sure to introduce you next time you're in the studio.
