Lighting is my obsession and I'm always trying to figure out better ways to modify light. I've mostly always worked with various sized soft boxes, but in more recent years I've taken an interest in parabolic modifiers which are essentially deep silver  umbrellas that give you the ability to adjust the spread of of the light depending on position of the flash head. The light they cast is less forgiving than that of a soft box, but if the stars line up right, you get a beautiful punchy soft yet hard light that really flatters bone structure and skin. Parabolic light throw is excellent for fashion, beauty, commercial and even some headshot work; it can really add in giving that wow factor that any photographer worth their salt is always relentlessly chasing. 

Parabolix caught my attention a couple years back. They're a newer company based in California that make all their products in-house. Their gear is built to last and is really good value. I've purchased the Parabolix 55, the Parabolix 35D and their Quad-Boom which its a brilliant design that allows for front or back-heavy lighting to be mounted on a boom without have to worry the light creeping out of place as they often do on traditional light booms. 

I'm very much looking forward to new lighting adventures in 2020 and can't wait to start using these modifiers for clients and portfolio work.
