Shimon (pronounced: she; moan) is an internationally published and award-winning photographer (Photo France NRJ Award 2010, Photolife Emerging Pro Award 2009, CAPIC XPOSE Award 2010 and 2014, Applied Arts Photo Award 2014 and 2018) specializing in music, celebrity, fashion, advertising and editorial photography.
After graduating from Vancouver Film School in 2002, he took a passionate interest in working in still photography and started to build a portfolio. During this time, he furthered his education at the Aveda Institute Victoria, where he trained in cosmetology/hair and further developed his eye for beauty and aesthetics.
Shimon's clients and publications have included Rolling Stone, Converse, Penthouse Magazine, Decibel Magazine, Exclaim Magazine, Guitar and Bass Magazine, Variety, Adbusters, The Georgia Straight and British Vogue. He's also photographed many notable Canadian recording artists including Tegan and Sara, D.O.A, A Tribe Called Red, Devin Townsend, The Japandroids, Harry Manx, and Trevor Guthrie.
Shimon is also one of Vancouver's busiest headshot photographers, whose distinct, editorial style has made him a staple among Hollywood North’s actors and agents. Never one to shy away from bold colours or big personality in his work, Shimon is constantly sought after for his signature style and mastery of studio-lighting. With over 14 years of experience as a professional photographer, his ability to capture his subject’s essence and put them at ease makes him a top choice for industry professionals.
